TED Talk

May 19, 2011 / Talks
By now, you've probably heard of TED Talks. What is a TED Talk? According to their website, it's "Riveting talks by remarkable people, free to the world" and their tagline is "Ideas Worth Spreading". Some of the most inspirational bits of wisdom I've ever heard have come from the TED website. You truly need to spend an hour, or day or week just listening to TED Talks. Your world will be rocked I promise.

So recently TEDx events were started which are basically local versions of TED. Nashville recently held their 2nd annual TEDx Nashville event and I was honored to be involved. Other speakers included Ashley Judd, Jill Sobule, David Mead, a brain surgeon, a rocket scientist and many more. No pressure, right? The theme was "A Sense of Wonder". I decided to talk about Help-Portrait. ...

Oh, and while we were speaking, there was a guy on stage doing drawings of everyone’s talks. Below is the drawing he did during my talk.

Excellent talk from the heart, Jeremy. I hope you don't mind; I've passed this along, and attached a link, in my blog. I have been a member of Help-Portrait and wanted to participate for a couple years, but I've always been traveling when the Nashville shoot day occurs. This year I hope to participate. Thanks for starting such a worthwhile movement.

Great speech! You've always been one of my favorite photographers. I can relate to you in a lot of ways because we've crossed some of the same paths. And you do awesome work as an artist. But most of all what I love is that you don't take your success for granted and you're humble. It's about what you've accomplished and using your skills for your passion to the best of your abilities. And it's about knowing what is truly important in life. That is what means the most and is the true meaning behind Help Portrait. Seeing the appreciation from people like this for the gift you have given them makes doing what you do all worth it. Keep up the AWESOME work as always!

Probably the best TED Talk I've seen for years! And it's also so inspiring that during those 18min and 54seconds I came up with a bunch of cool ideas that I've to try out =) Thank you again Jeremy! Cheers from Sweden!
