Obligatory Safari Shots
August 13, 2008 Here are some photos from our safari in Kruger National Park outside of Johannesburg, South Africa. I have no idea if the color is accurate as I've edited on my very un-calibrated laptop. I also have permanent dust on my censor which makes shooting fun. I'll have to send my camera to Canon as soon as we return. Anyway, I have a new appreciation for wildlife photographers. We just zipped through the safari and only stayed on main roads but I can better understand the extreme patience and caution those guys must have to do this.

My last safari shoot I tried to clean my own reflecting mirror because it got so dusty from my changing lenses... I accidentally nudged it crooked and the next 40 shots had slanted horizons... until I finally noticed. That was back in my film days too. Sheesh.

wow, you saw leopard, rhino and lion! i was at the kruger park earlier this year, and those three were determined not to be spotted! we did get to see lots of other animals though. your shots are fantastic, i especially love the zebra one.
the rhino in the headlights is ridiculous! i love it. as a zookeeper, you are getting to live my dream right now. someday i'll get there... too bad i won't have any pros a long to take such stunning shots.
